Last week, a jury of six found Chair of the County Legislature, Robert Doherty, guilty of defamation when he claimed that Legislator Luis Alvarez called a Commissioner a vile word, then publicly claimed that his statement that Mr. Alvarez did so was “founded.” It was not, and testimony showed that.
While we rejoice in this verdict and are thankful to the jury for their honest and earnest work to find the truth, we also know that while the arc of moral justice may be long, it’s up to all of us to work to bend it toward justice. And there is work ahead.
Election day is a little over a month away, and Robert Doherty and his band of yes men are still in office. We need to change that on election day by electing our incredible slate of candidates! They offer a diverse array of life, personal, and professional experience that gives them the insight and knowledge to be effective legislators for our residents.
